Velkommen! Bienvenu! Bienvenido! Failte! Salve! Benvenuto!
Howdy, my name’s Jenn and welcome to my blog!
If you’ve just stumbled across here for the first time, I’m so glad to have you!
If you’re a repeat visitor… well, I’m ever so glad to have you back!
Chances are you’re on this page because you’re interested in the ‘woman behind the curtain’- and I’m here to divulge.
Grab a cup of coffee and let’s gossip!
Meet Jenn
The Early Years
As you can maybe guess from the ‘Welcome‘ in many languages, I am a seasoned traveler.
(I wish I could say ‘world traveler’ but haven’t gotten that far yet).
I was raised an airline brat (my parents worked for Delta) and I was blessed with the opportunity to fly all over (often on a whim) and visit many places that most young children don’t ever get to see.
I am certain I was a gypsy in another life because I have a traveler’s heart.
To be honest, I would move every 2 years or so, if my husband and kids weren’t so adamant about this crazy thing called ‘stability’! 😉
I was born in Tennessee but grew up between my folks in Atlanta, Ga and Panama City, Fl (yep, Southern born & bred!) with most of my formative years spent living it up in the Fl panhandle. I’ve also lived in Alabama, Virginia, Texas, and North Carolina.
I grew up as an only child (I had step-siblings, but they lived elsewhere), so it was a rather lonely existence in my home.
The Here and Now
Today, I am an incredibly blessed stay-at-home wife and mom of 4 amazing crumb crunchers!
My kids range in age from 4 to 14 (big gap, I know!) and are quite the motley crew!
(If you want to learn more about them, and you know you do!, click ‘meet the help’).
I homeschool my kids, partly because I enjoy it and partly because the education system where we live is laughable at best.
I write often on the blog about my lesson plan ideas, activities that flare or fizzle, and my children’s unabashed review of the content material.
If you homeschool, supplement your children’s public education program, or are just looking for neat ideas to do with your little ones, check out my homeschool 101 tab!
Jenn- Solo
Ok, I’ll admit that I’m a stalker- yep- I’ve actually been known to stalk foodie blogs.
And I’ll also admit that I have an unnatural love affair with my Ninja Crockpot and have even been known to take it on vacation (seriously)!
Perhaps, I have an unnatural affection for food…period.
I LOVELOVELOVE to cook and have a degree from the Culinary Institute of the Food Network. 😉
Seriously, 10 years ago I thought a box of Hamburger Helper was gourmet, so I’m very happy to have developed the cooking skills I currently do have- even though it was all thanks to Bobby, Rachael, Guy, Anne, and Giada!
I’m perfecting my skills all the time and even looking to branch out into the fields of molecular gastronomy and home brewing!
We’re constantly working on changing our eating habits here at the homestead (trying to get healthy, wealthy, and wise, you know?), so I often share recipes on the blog.
Keep your eyes peeled!
I’m an avid DIYer and dream up amazing plans (‘delusions of grandeur’ my husband calls them) that all too often actually come to fruition (surprise, surprise).
However, as much as I love starting DIY projects, I rarely relish finishing them….
(I really need to work on my follow through).
A few years back though, we moved into a turn-of-the-century home in beautiful St. Louis, which has forced us to utilize our DIY skills in ways we’ve never imagined.
Our ‘dream home’ is still taking shape- take the journey with us!
On a personal note, I love slightly inappropriate humor, the occasional girly drink (no hard liquor for me!), and every episode of Bob’s Burgers.
(My sincerest goal in life is to grow up to be Linda Belcher!!)
Why this blog?
I started this blog to document our successes (and slip-ups) as we begin our journey of living with LESS in an effort to get MORE out of life!
Here you’ll get to see, laid bare, everything we tackle on that journey (even if it fizzles) and all the funny stuff that happens to us along the way.
We look forward to having you along for the ride!
